We’re innovators, pioneers, and creators of change. We build, we fail, we learn, we improve, we grow.
Our culture and values are at the centre of everything we do. The sense of support across the business drives us to do the best we can for our customers, for each other, and for the world at large. Here’s what you can expect during your time at tech.SB.
We do everything with our values in mind, from the biggest decisions to the smallest actions. These are learning, empowerment, authenticity, pioneering, and simplicity. Make sure you’re familiar with these, because they’re at the heart of our story.
We aim to increase diversity within our team. There’s work to be done to dismantle systems that support inequality and lack of opportunity for under-represented groups in technology, but we’re committed to leading the way and making positive changes.
We support the women in tech community. We’re focused on five targets: career clarity, increasing transparency, targeting sexism in the workplace, providing clear channels of communication to raise a problem, and increasing the number of women in senior roles.
We hold our own tech conference twice a year, which you can join in-person or remotely. We invite a range of high-profile speakers covering different topics, giving you the opportunity to hear from industry experts and ask plenty of questions specific to your work.
Ever wanted to fly a drone with a guitar? Or build an app for charity? Our hackathons give you free rein to work on anything you want. Form your team, pitch your idea and get hacking before presenting your results to the rest of the business. Watch our 2021 recap.
Our mentoring program gives our people the opportunity to learn from their colleagues. Mentors are happy to talk about their experience, helping mentees work towards their own goals. Mentors are given training and offered ongoing support.
You’ll have the opportunity to attend a wide range of conferences, such as QCon, LeadDev, AWS Re:Invent, RubyConf, and Women in Technology. We encourage you to share knowledge with your colleagues, so we can all learn and benefit from new ideas.
This structure helps you set personal development goals, gain clarity about the skills and behaviours needed in each role and career path, and ensures consistency in our promotions process. It gives you the opportunity to reflect on how to achieve your big dream.
Learning is one of our values. So we encourage employees, alongside their regular projects, to spend half a day every week on their personal development. You can enrol in an online course, join a workshop, or simply spend some time reading.
Coaching can help bridge the gap between where you are now and where you’d like to be – and do it far more effectively than if you worked alone. If needed, you have access to an external coach, who can give you the resources to thrive and navigate change.
Career development is a lifelong process of exploration and learning. We encourage lateral moves, and offer tools, support, and workshops to focus on your strengths and wider network, helping you think about the range of career possibilities.
